An up-and-coming MMA fighter wants more than just one night from a woman fleeing her past in New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster's irresistible new novel Heavyweight fighter Denver Lewis plays real nice, but he doesn't share. That's why he's been avoiding top-notch flirt Cherry Peyton. But a man can only resist those lush curves for so long. Their encounter surpasses all his fantasies, bringing out protective urges that Cherry's about to need more than she knows… Denver's combination of pure muscle and unexpected tenderness has been driving Cherry wild. Yet no sooner does she get what she's been craving than old troubles show up on her doorstep. And this time, Cherry can't hide behind a carefree facade. Because the man by her side is one who'll fight like hell to keep her safe…if only she'll trust him enough to let him…

My Thoughts

I want to say that I was totally into this book, but sadly I just cannot.  I can see why Lori Foster has so many fans. Her writing is beautiful. Sadly, even with the alpha male thing, which normally is a go to turn on for me, this threw me completely off.

Cherry has a few issues. Namely her brothers. They are not nice, they also want to visit with Cherry.

Denver has a few of his own issues. He should have neanderthal tattooed on his forehead for one. Cherry has been wanting to date him but he has this thing about not wanting to share. Anyone can understand that. What I do not understand is that once Denver gets wind that Cherry’s brothers are looking for her, he stops at nothing to find out what is going on.

Even while she’s drowsy from a fever. A 102 fever that is making her feel like crap. He constantly, and I mean constantly badgers her on who they are, her past, what is going on in her life now, and their future plans to remain monogamous. ALL while she is sick.

I would want to say… SHUT. UP.

I just could not get past this crap. The story is good other than his neanderthal ways. I mean, I get it, you’re an alpha male. Go pee on stuff if it makes you feel better but let the SICK girl get some rest already.

So, to be honest, as much as I did enjoy the stuff surrounding Cherry and Denver, this one I had to skim. I just could not put up with Denver’s crap any longer. It felt like abuse to me. There’s a point that is honest and even sexy but I think he crosses that line when he just would not leave Cherry alone for two seconds.

So, I’m curious about Lori Foster’s other books. If all her men are as crazy as Denver then I may have to leave her writing alone but I do recommend, even with alpha male testosterone dripping from my Kindle.

I’ve heard nothing but great, GREAT things about her. I will definitely read some more. I really think it was only the fact that I just got over the flu and have first hand experience to a 102 fever, recently. I would have told him and his sexy self to F OFF! Still, it was cute in the non-neanderthal parts!
