Quin Lighthorn was released from a mental institution in order to help the FBI with an undercover operation—or so he thought. As part of Lighthorn’s undercover job, he becomes an intern at Safe Haven, a firm that pays out a portion of a life insurance plan to a terminally ill person so long as that person makes the firm the insurance policy’s beneficiary. Within minutes of his first day on the job, Lighthorn witnesses a murder. From there, the plot begins to unravel…
Ok, I should have known when I saw thriller that this wasn’t going to sit well with me. But that synopsis!! It just dragged me in!
I wish I could say that I loved this book. I wanted to. But there is a lot of talk about wolves; the alpha wolf and the lower wolf ranks and how they deal with each other. I just couldn’t get into it. I read to about 25% and decided that 25% and still not into it was enough. The wolf similes did get a little too much for me but I think if I was more into this I wouldn’t even have noticed them.
Although I think if you are more into thrillers, which I am totally not, that this might be something you want to try. James Michael Larranaga does have a fabulous writing hand and I would hate to disparage him because I do not enjoy thrillers!
