A brand new series from the author of The Gentlemen Next Door, praised for being a "delightful Regency romp… in the spirit of Georgette Heyer."
Meet Alice Belle—the Bossy Belle—used to getting her way. If anyone has to fall on the matrimonial sword it will be she and not her sisters. She has set her sights on the richest, most titled gentlemen in her acquaintance. The perfect man to make her father happy, leaving her beloved sisters free to marry whom they choose.
Meet Robert Crawford—ringleader—used to masterminding his way. If anyone is going to marry Alice Belle, it is he. Never mind that he's poor, without a title, and completely unsuitable for Alice in the eyes of her father. He loves her. Which makes him the perfect man to make her happy, whether she realizes it or not.
As a fan of Cecelia Gray, I could not wait to get into this series. I didn’t realize they are in the same world as her Gentleman series so I am excited to go back and re-read those stories as well.
The first three of this series can be read at any time. They all are written to correspond with each other. I was dreading this a bit as I just finished a book where the second book re-told parts of the story verbatim and I wound up skimming through those portions. This, however, gave different points of view from many different places. Although the places were the same they were never in the same place, at the same time, so there are different conversations, and secrets to hold!
Alice is one of my favorite sisters but they all have their certain qualities that set them apart. Alice is the oldest and has been taking care of each of her siblings, and her father, since her mother died. She is used to being able to handle everything but it is her youngest sister who married first.
This story is delightful and introduces all the sisters, although the main plot is about Alice and Robert. The family is amazing and I wasn’t sure there was going to be an ending until nearly the end! It does end and there is no cliffhanger to worry about, but since this is a series I was excited for the next.
After reading this one, falling in love with the characters, and again with Cecelia Gray’s writing, I knew I could not wait for book two and the rest of the series!
