Two secrets. One bet. Who will break first?
Taylor Caldwell can't decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate or punch him.
On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome blue-eyed bundle of charm. On the other, he's a tattooed, guitar-playing bad boy. Maybe that's why Taylor's afraid of falling in love with him, or anyone else. She doesn't want to get burned, so she needs him gone before it's too late.
Hunter himself has been burned before, but Taylor's sexy laugh and refusal to let him get away with anything make her irresistible. Determined not to be kicked out of her life without a fight, Hunter proposes a bet: if she can convince him she either truly loves or hates him, he'll leave the apartment;and leave her alone.
But when the man behind Taylor's fear of giving up her heart resurfaces, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.
The overall feeling of this book as a fun, quirky romance shines through. It is a good story, and I enjoyed the plot building and characters which were very relate-able.
The storyline is about a group of college kids, but mostly it’s about Taylor and Hunter and their obsessive love/hate relationship. When Taylor first meets Hunter, she punches Hunter in the face and Hunter says he’ll move out if she truly hates him OR if she falls in love with him. Super cute premise and one that sets up for a lot of romance and intrigue.
LOVED that she punched him! Taylor, who is really my favorite character, totally had sass. She punches him square in the face, and this after the first time he hit on her. Not that I would actually punch anyone in the face but the reality of wanting to punch someone has skittered through my mind a few times.
Hunter was awesome. Wound up being a really nice guy that I was rooting for which surprised me. He has a bad boy quality but is all teddy bear underneath.
On the negative side of things: And this is really the only negative that I had. I didn’t love the way ended at all. Didn’t make sense to me at all. I wanted to give this a five but just cannot with this ending.
In short: Quirky and cute romance!
