THE SNOW WAS JUST THE START...
On the night it begins snowing in every country of the world, an ordinary group of people gather at a rundown English pub. At first they assume the weather is just a random occurrence and nothing to worry about - but as the night goes on, weirder things happen, and they start to realise that something far more sinister is at hand. Something that none of them could ever have imagined.

By the end of the night, not everyone will make it, and those that do will wish they hadn’t.

My Thoughts

Firstly, I have to admit that I am a fan of Iain Rob Wright. I have loved every book that I have read. He’s definitely not steered me wrong yet and it seems that he has the pulse of horror fans because he knows just what to talk about to make (at least me) cringe!

This was no different. Unlike in some of his stories there was not as much gore in this one. Actually he leaves a lot of the creepiness just in the fact that it seems like the end of the world and nobody knows what is going on. Of course people go outside. I mean, this may be the end of the world but there is always a reason to go outside in the freezing cold! FREEZING. COLD. But, the reasons were there until a madman the size of a giant shows up with a sword and starts cutting people down. Need to go outside reduced to zero!

I really liked the characters but again, the characters and plot are on point with Iain Rob Wright’s other books. There are a few twists and those were surprising! I loved the reasoning behind everything but be sure to put in the full time for the book. If you stop early (which I don’t anyone would for one of his books but just in case) you are going to miss out on the fabulous surprises!

The narration also surprised me. It’s rare that a narrator matches the atmosphere of the book. Chris Barnes had a great way of adding the essence of horror into his voice, but even more important I could feel what the characters were feeling. Only side note, and this has nothing to do with Chris Barnes but my own ears, his accent is gorgeous but so thick that it took me quite a while to get used to it! I normally listen to audiobooks at 1.5 speed but I kept it at 1 to help clue me into his accent. Once I got used to it I was able to speed things up again. And now that I am used to it I could listen to Chris Barnes read all day long!

In short: This was fantastic! The plot and the narration fit perfectly together to create a fabulously different horror. LOVED the twist and how this ended. Once again Iain Rob Wright shows why he is a writer. Recommended to everyone!

He is really amazing. I cannot believe the things that come out of him! But after reading my thoughts are like, well of course he wrote it this way, why wouldn’t he? I haven’t read all of his stuff but the ones I have read have kept me reading. Looking forward to your review!
