Eighteen-year-old Jade Reamer is a tough girl with a reputation to prove it. She loves three people and three people only: her brother, her boyfriend, and her best friend. Everyone else is irrelevant.
That is … until Reed enters the picture again.
Suddenly things start to spiral out of control and things aren’t as they seem. Life is no longer simply black and white, love versus hate. Suddenly, it’s hard to figure out which of those four letter words is true.
Especially when she can’t look away from those devil eyes.
I love you. I hate you. I love you. I hate you. Which is it? I don’t even know anymore.
Well, let’s find out.
This 15,000 word novella contains coarse language, angst-driven young adults, and a lot of pent-up frustration.
Oh yeah. Plus love and a little bit of hate.
I was sad that this was a short story, which is always a good sign, as I definitely enjoyed Christina Channelle’s writing. The plot was engaging, although, I felt a few things weren’t answered at the end. The twist is such a huge twist and I would have enjoyed understanding a bit more about what happened.
Jade is such an interesting girl. Throughout most of the book I wondered why she was so tough. Characters don’t just get tough just because! I did like her toughness but it’s also a shield that I really wanted to get through so I could get to know her. It takes most of the book to understand what is going on but completely makes sense.
I really liked Reed and the tension between Jade and Reed. I had no idea what was going to happen or if something had happened before but it was fun to watch. Great to see a couple not be instantly in love but have a real passion (the hate part) for each other! The pull and push between them was wonderful and made me want to keep reading!
All in all, really good short story. A few things missing for me but not enough to keep me away!
