Dewey’s 24 hour read a thon!

April 26, 2014 Read a thon 2

Third time is the charm right!!?

Last time I only got to hour 17! And the time before that, only to Midnight!

So… I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to do the full 24 hours! If not I know I’ll be up and reading sometime on Sunday but I’d really love to stick it out this time!

I’m picking the books that I need to read soon ish for tours and for those fabulous authors that have waited forever for me to get to their wonderful babies! And I’m adding in quite a few with the least amount of pages. Helpful if I get bored and need a fast read! Of course this list is always subject to change due to my MOOD, sitting arrangement, food and/or coffee intake, pups or cat sitting on my lap, hubby needing attention, etc… 😉

I am also planning to take short breaks to cheer other readers on and see how everyone else is doing. Plus getting up every two hours or so seems to be a winner for me.

If you’re stopping here from the read a thon, what are you reading?! How are you doing? Any tips and tricks you would like to share?

** In no way do I think I’ll get through this entire list but I enjoy having a list to choose from. It’s easy to pick another if one isn’t hitting all of my reading spots! And of course… subject to change **

The Reading List!

  • The Medea Complex 272 Pages Review done!
  • Hedge Witch – 284 Pages Review Done!

Intro Questionnaire:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Louisiana
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? Only for You. I LOVE, love, love Cecilia Gray!
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? Hmm… salsa that I didn’t prepare! ACK!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I’m currently going to school online. I’m starting a class about Film next week! So far I’m really excited about this class. I glanced at this week’s worth and really interested in seriously critiquing films! I think this will help with my book reviews as well! I also have four pups and a hubby that I have to keep away from me during read a thons! Might be difficult!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? I set up my list and I actually got up on time. If I need a nap I might take one. I stayed up way too late last night! But I already have one book down and I’m ready for more!

Best Reading of the Year:

Peaceful Genocide totally caught me off guard, as did Storm Front. These two were fan-freaking-tastic and I really enjoyed reading them both! Storm Front I had been putting off for at least a year and finally read it with my book club. I was floored! If Only is a fantastic and pretty deep but really fun romance. I loved every single word!

Check this poor gal out. I feel bad for her but at the same time I nearly peed myself laughing so hard!!

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? Still Only for You by Cecilia Gray!
4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day? HA! YES! Although I did also do laundry so I could get up and move every hour the hubby has willingly took on all chores for the pups and cooking today! And he even installed a ceiling fan!
5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Not very many. Laundry was sort of on purpose. The hubby could stop talking to me so much though 😉
6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? How much reading I can actually get done in one 24 hour stint!!!
7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? I love this, so no way! Everything is fun and great.
8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year? I think I would want to spend more time cheering next time. I think that would be fun!
9. Are you getting tired yet? Not YET!!
10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered? This time has been much easier for me even on very little sleep last night. I think doing laundry, as crazy as that sounds, has been helpful. Getting up and down every hour has been great. Plus I had FIVE loads just waiting for this. LOL
