Each Monday will bring a different horror… to help you cope with the horror that is Monday with the horrors that are in the fantasy world.
Horror for Today: Vampires!
Wow… This brings vampire creepiness back. No way should anyone want to kiss any of these vampires! First episode rocked. The great thing, if you would prefer to read, these are in book form. But I have to say, so far the program is amazing!
A Boeing 777 arrives at JFK and is on its way across the tarmac, when it suddenly stops dead. All window shades are pulled down. All lights are out. All communication channels have gone quiet. Crews on the ground are lost for answers, but an alert goes out to the CDC. Dr. Ephraim “Eph” Goodweather, head of their Canary project, a rapid-response team that investigates biological threats, gets the call and boards the plane. What he finds makes his blood run cold.
In a pawnshop in Spanish Harlem, a former professor and survivor of the Holocaust named Abraham Setrakian knows something is happening. And he knows the time has come, that a war is brewing.
So begins a battle of mammoth proportions as the vampiric virus that has infected New York begins to spill out into the streets. Eph, who is joined by Setrakian and a motley crew of fighters, must now find a way to stop the contagion and save his city – a city that includes his wife and son – before it is too late.
SERIES PREMIERE | Episode 1
When a plane lands in New York City with everyone on board dead, Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, head of the CDC’s Canary Project, and his team are called upon to investigate. Harlem pawnbroker Abraham Setrakian races to the airport, convinced that what looks at first like a mysterious viral outbreak might be the beginning of something infinitely more sinister.
The Strain book review if you prefer.
The show! Oh my… this show is so good. Had me on the edge of the couch the entire time and I wasn’t even craving popcorn because I was too busy freaking out to worry about popcorn.
Although this is just the beginning I was quite worried that the show wasn’t going to grasp the hugeness and the creepiness of this book. The story was amazing and as I read I just kept getting more and more freaked out. As I watched just the first hour of The Strain I found that I felt the same way. Except this time I know what is going to happen and that didn’t stop my heart from palpitating one bit.
And although I will not give any spoilers… ohhh my god! The guy that picked up the heart after SEEING the worms (or whatever the hell the larva is) coming out of it… why? WHY would you do that? That part was so gruesome and so amazing…
In short: If you enjoy horror you will love this new series! Great actors, fabulous storytelling… oh my god… I cannot wait for more!
