23rd – 29th – If you are at a really good point in a book and the phone rings or the door bell rings, do you stop reading or let the phone or door bell go unanswered? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

I love this question! I may allow the phone to ring a few times so I can finish a paragraph but I am not a sociable person so my phone does not ring often.

This is a funny question because recently I have been in two readathons. Dewey’s 24 hour readathon and Bout of Books. Dewey’s was easier to prepare for since it was only one full day. Since it was on a Saturday and my hubby was home, he dealt with everything. When the phone rang I did perk up to listen if he answered but other than that my nose stayed glued to the books. Bout of books being a full week is a little different. Hubster is at work so I know that phone ringing could be him.

I also have to say that we live in the middle ages and do not have caller id on my land line. I know it sounds crazy but the cost monthly just isn’t worth it. I only have a few people that call and if someone else does call it’s easy enough to say wrong number. That being said, it is infuriating to have to stop reading to answer a wrong number or worse still, a political phone call. Ewwww!

So, yes, I have been known to put my book down to answer the phone or door. But, in my defense my daughter would kill me if I didn’t answer every time she called.

Do you answer the phone while reading a good book?
