Will be releasing in the U.S. on March 18th so you will be one of the first (unless you’re in England of course) to get your hands on this baby! I know I can’t wait to read it and I hope to make someone that loves Terry Pratchett as much as I do, very happy!

Synopsis:

To the consternation of the patrician, Lord Vetinari, a new invention has arrived in Ankh-Morpork – a great clanging monster of a machine that harnesses the power of all the elements: earth, air, fire and water. This being Ankh-Morpork, it’s soon drawing astonished crowds, some of whom caught the zeitgeist early and arrive armed with notepads and very sensible rainwear.Moist von Lipwig is not a man who enjoys hard work – as master of the Post Office, the Mint and the Royal Bank his input is, of course, vital… but largely dependent on words, which are fortunately not very heavy and don’t always need greasing. However, he does enjoy being alive, which makes a new job offer from Vetinari hard to refuse…

Steam is rising over Discworld, driven by Mister Simnel, the man wi’ t’flat cap and sliding rule who has an interesting arrangement with the sine and cosine. Moist will have to grapple with gallons of grease, goblins, a fat controller with a history of throwing employees down the stairs and some very angry dwarfs if he’s going to stop it all going off the rails…

As I told Courtney, you should pick up The Wee Free Men if you don’t win this one! His writing is very satirical but the plots and characters are amazing and they do not have to be read in order. Another plus!

I haven’t read Terry Pratchett but I’ve heard wonderful things about his writing. I should start right away!

    • Christina

You totally should! He is amazing! If you don’t win I suggest getting Wee Free Men, the first in the Tiffany Aching series. Delightful read!

If you’re not already into Pratchett you may not have heard of this because it was literally JUST published. If you are into satire though, trust me, he’s brilliant! I can never get enough of his writing and have already bought this book for myself!

  2. Michele Behlen

No I haven’t read or heard of him. The book sounds great.

So many haven’t heard of Terry Pratchett! I’m glad to be introducing this fabulous author to you gals & guys! Trust me… it took my hubby talking me into reading one of his books because I wasn’t sure about the satire bit, but I haven’t looked back since. I absolutely love him! Good luck on the giveaway!

I love Terry Pratchett! I have 13 Discworld books on one of my shelves. My favourites are the City Watch ones, or the Moist Von Lipwig series.

    • Christina

They are fantastic! I just re-listened to Monstrous Regiment and absolutely LOVE when Vimes is in the background. I just can’t help but giggle!

    • Christina

She is a treat and a half! I’m currently re-reading The Wee Free Men. Cannot wait until she shows up! Have you listened on Audible?

The only Pratchett I’ve read is Good Omens. I’ve been meaning to read discworld for ages, but all the books intimidate me 😛

    • Christina

I know there are a LOT of Discworld books but they don’t have to be read in order. I suggest either The Watch, The Witches, or Tiffany Aching stories. Tiffany Aching is for young adults technically but there is so much in there and the Witches are introduced at the end of the first book. In the four we can see Tiffany grow up and the trouble she gets into because of her witching abilities. It’s quite good! Vimes is in The Watch and he is another of my all time favorite characters. The great thing about reading about The Watch is that you get to know many characters around the main city Ankh Morpork. I did a “how to” for reading Pratchett, you may want to check it out… Terry Pratchett. Enjoy!

I’ve read a lot of Terry Pratchett’s novels, although I’ve yet to read Discworld series. I totally loved Nation, also A Hat Full of Sky, Unadulteraded Cat, and The Carpet People was really interesting.

Nope, but my brother is always trying to get me to read them.
