A psychic doctor, John Clancy (Anthony Hopkins), works with an FBI special agent (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in search of serial killer Charles Ambrose (Colin Farrell). After having lived in isolation for two years, since the death of his daughter, Clancy is asked by his friend Joe, an FBI special agent to help him solve several murders committed by a serial killer. The problem is that Ambrose is also psychic, and far ahead of Clancy.
The hubster and I were searching for something that we both would want to actually sit and watch. He, of course, wanted to choose something like Ironman. I love Ironman but I was just not in the mood for the same ol, same ol. We searched through our movies on demand, watching trailers, laughing, eating popcorn, until we came upon Solace.
How many fabulous actors are in this?! Jeffrey Dean Morgan! Anthony Hopkins! Colin Farrell! That’s just to name a few. It looked like it may be a B movie but with all those actors and with an interesting psychological thriller premise, we both thought, ok, we finally have a winner!
This movie is about Joe Merriweather (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) trying to figure out who is behind murders that are being committed around his area. They don’t find any hard evidence so Joe decides to go find his psychic friend who has been out of the business for quite some time. Joe (Anthony Hopkins) sees how the killer kills a woman, while she is happy and thinking her husband was walking into the room, which is strange for a killer…
This movie was fun. I can say I’m glad we watched it in the comfort of our own home instead of spending the money to go to theaters but I thought it was intelligently written. It kept me intrigued. The plot was almost psychedelic and both my husband and I, who enjoy entirely different types of movies, were entertained.
There’s also a twist at the end but not the kind of twist that scary movies normally give. In short: It’s worth the watch!
