Random Disney

What can you find here? Everything and anything about Disney.

I was a cast member a few years ago and I miss being able to help people save money and find the magic in their vacation. It was so great talking to fabulous people every day! I’m hoping to bring that joy here!

I’m also planning a Disney World trip for May 2015! The extra knowledge will help you & me!

Today: Extra Magic Hours

These are SO cool!

How do you get EXTRA hours in a theme park? You have to stay at a Disney resort. The hours can depend on which park you are going to, the day, and the time of the year.

We always, ALWAYS, schedule our trips around the Extra Magic Hours! You can see these hours 6 months ahead of time.

Extra Magic Hours offer a rare and unique opportunity to enjoy additional time in Walt Disney World parks—above and beyond the standard operating schedule—at no extra charge. This special perk is offered to Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

Each day, one of the 4 Walt Disney World theme parks opens one hour early or remains open up to 2 hours after regular closing time. Additionally, Disney Water Parks offer Extra Magic Hours during select times of year. – Disney.com

How cool is this!? Plus, a little tip, the parks are normally not as crowded unless you are going at a crazy time of year!

My hubby and I went to Disney for our Honeymoon in July, which is thought to be a very busy time. It was pretty busy but we made the most out of it by playing in the parks late and sleeping it. File that under AWESOME!

So, now, how do you plan a trip around these hours?

It’s pretty easy. If you are within 6 months you can view these hours at Disney’s Calendar. Just go to the month when you are going to Disney and look at which parks are open when.

  • May 6 – Animal Kingdom (Early)Morning at MK
  • May 7 – Magic Kingdom (Early)
  • May 8 – Epcot (Late)
  • May 9 – Disney Hollywood Studios (Early), Magic Kingdom (Late)

I definitely recommend writing this down or printing it and keeping it close. We want to make your Disney vacation as fun as possible and being frazzled about forgetting the days = totally not fun!

So! what does knowing the Extra Magic Hours do for you?

Well, if you do not want to get a park hopper then you will definitely want to know where to go when. You don’t want to find yourself in the wrong park when another park has extra late hours!!

Also, I normally set my dining up for whichever park is going to be open late (dining coming next).

Now that you have an idea you can start figuring out which parks you’re going to be in on what days!

What to do when you’re in the park!

If you’re anything like my family, then you will want to RACE to the best attraction. You can also choose your fastpass adventures before you even GET TO THE park! So if you know you love a particular attraction, fast pass it for something like 30 minutes after you get to the park, get to the park, race to your fav attraction, RIDE fav attraction, get in line with your fastpass & RIDE AGAIN!

You can only reserve up to 3 fast passes in advance so be careful and pick only your favs!

Ah, nice post and brings back memories! When we lived in FL and the kids were younger we had the FL Residents’ Pass several years in a row, and that was a godsend– only an hour and half drive away! We used to go fairly often on the weekends when they were off school, which could be a bit more crowded but we also went on some random days when we found the park blissfully quiet– I think November was a quiet tourist month so mostly residents there then.

By the way, didn’t know you were recently married 🙂 Congrats and great that you both love Disney, it makes for a fun vacation even for adults.

I bet having passes was amazing! If we move back to Fl I am definitely talking the hubster into that! It so does! We love going there. It’s hard living so far away! We were hoping to go this year but we’re thinking about buying a house!! So, Disney will have to wait a year and I’ll live vicariously through all the pictures and movies.
