It’s been a while since I joined in Top Ten Tuesday! Not by choice but by necessity. Life is in order and all things are good so now it’s back to getting my blog straight!

Today’s Top Ten is

May 17: Ten Books I Picked Up On A Whim

Read:

The Food Lab by J. Kenji López-Alt – Saw this on The Chew and I was impressed and needing more cookbooks so WHAM! Purchase! So far I love it! Delves into how and why we cook instead of just giving recipes. Think of something like Alton Brown. This book is a bit more expensive than my normal purchase but chock full of information!

Chihuahua Chaos by Linda O. Johnston – I saw another of her books on Netgalley and thought I would grab this novella to see how her writing is. I am in love with her stories, mostly because they involve dogs! Cozy mysteries filled with food and pups!

The Wicked Dead by Rick Gualtieri – My hubby and I are fans of Bill the Vampire. He’s this nerdy guy turned vamp that did not all of a sudden get massively handsome and grow social skills. That’s the funny part though. He and his friends play video games and talk about girls, not that they would have girlfriends or anything, and it is all so hilarious! AND it’s a vampire story.

After You by Jojo Moyes – My family and I read the first, Before You, when it came out and I could not resist picking this up. Especially after I heard the movie was coming out. Oh my goodness, I’m going to have to buy a supply of tissues before seeing that.

Have not read:

The Twelve by Justin Cronin – I read book one when it came out years ago. The minute this came out I bought it, and it has been sitting on my shelves ever since. I recently also purchased it on Audible, so this could almost count as two!

The Witch’s Daughter by Paula Brackston – This has been out forever. When I heard book two was published I decided to go ahead and pick it up. Now to get to it!

A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole – We live in Louisiana and while waiting for a plane for vacation, I decided to pick this up. It sounds intriguing and fun. That was four months ago!

The Blood Gospel by James Rollins – Standing in the book store with an armful of books and I decided on this one last minute. I think it is one that the hubby and I will both like.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs – My daughter has read all of these so I thought it was time that I caught up with her! This was another time when I had an armful of books and it was hard to decide. I used her expertise to help me out.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer – In the same trip as Peculiar Children, I picked this one up also. I’ve been eyeing it for a while now. I decided, why not! Throw caution to the wind and buy two books with unbelievably interesting covers! WIN WIN!

What books have you purchased on a whim, recently?

Miss Peregrine was pretty good, though the second book never sucked me in. I’ll probably read them both again before getting the third book. I loved the inclusion of photographs. Such a neat idea!

My daughter has talked nonstop about it. Since they are making a movie, I thought it was finally time for me to give in to the pressure. 😉
