19th – 25th – What do you do with books you no longer want? Do you donate them? Do you take them to a half-price bookstore? Does a friend or family member benefit? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
This question hurts me! I know, I know, of course there are going to be books that are unwanted. Honestly, with the house that I was previously in, my husband and I made the agreement to not buy any actual books since we didn’t have room for them. We only purchased ones we knew we were going to cherish for years.
We do have four boxes full of older books that we did not have room for and had to keep in our garage. Some of them got mildew on them, or water damage, and had to be thrown away. Some we decided we were never going to read again, like old textbooks for subjects neither of us cared for. Most of those books were years and years old so even trying to give them away would be a laugh.
Normally I try not to throw away books. I would much prefer giving them away. The most ideal situation would be to find a library or used bookstore to trade them in, but sadly there’s not many of those around here. We’ve been smart and haven’t purchased many actual books, we’ve stuck with our ereaders to make our lives easier. Now that we have a room dedicated strictly for a library, the only thing holding us back is the ability to purchase more bookcases!
What do you do with unused books?
